The Inspiration

I remember hearing or being told that weeds are simply plants growing in the wrong place and I try to think like that when I’m out in my garden.  If a ‘weed‘ starts to flower then I try to leave it alone until it has stopped flowering thereby giving the bees a chance to do their thing.

I don’t have a problem with dandelions. The flowers are actually pretty and I can appreciate the dandelion clocks and wonder at the dispersal on the breeze and it was during one of these moments of appreciation that I decided to create ‘The Meadow Wanderer.’

The Craft

‘The Meadow Wanderer’ started life as a background. The background was created by brayering green ink directly on to the card. Using a circle stencil and a yellow ink  I created the sun. A different shade of green was applied to deepen the colour around the edges of the card and to create the forest floor.

The beautiful fairy was stamped next and then the placing of the trees and flora was decided. Different shades of ink were used to stamp the flowers and vines.  Then it was the fun bit of using the watercolour pencils and pens to build the colours in the wings, trees and hanging flowers. Followed by the compulsory bit of glitter for that added sparkle and magic.
