The Inspiration
I have a love of birds and wildlife and take a lot of pleasure from just watching them out of my windows. In particular I love corvids and this particular day I had been watching the hooded crows and magpie navigate each other around the food that was out for them.
My thought always goes to how lovely it would be to get one to land on my hand, although I do appreciate that is a stupid thing to do with a wild bird. So instead of me doing it I decided that it would be ok for a fairy to do it.
The Craft
‘Inner Peace’ started from a background I had created weeks earlier using ‘Dinkle’ powders, water and a gel press.
I wanted to have a fairy and a corvid in the picture and so I played around with a variety of different stamps until I got the combination I wanted. I printed the main elements first and then added a variety of wild flowers around the main flower using a variety of tonal colours. Using a large circle mask I then blended a lovely purple ink all over the card going darker and lighter in places.
I used H2O watercolour paints to paint the flowers and the fairies wings, a white posca pen to add detail to the magpie and a gold pen to add detail to the background flowers.
