Twilight Rendezvous
A silent meeting between a watchful fae and her feline companion beneath a glowing dusk sky.

As twilight settles and the witching hour approaches a winged fae watches patiently for her feline friend to arrive.
Set against a luminous watercolor moon glowing with warm amber, yellow, and deep teal tones, ‘Twilight Rendzvous‘ captures a fleeting, tranquil moment of unspoken connection in the woods.
A beautiful addition for lovers of fantasy art, cats, and celestial folklore.
The Inspiration
Some days creating a picture comes purely from wanting to create something and/or wanting to use something. This was one of those days.
I love collecting and using stamps from the fabulous ‘Lavinia Stamps‘. They are absolutely, hands down my favourite stamps to use. I have had this particular fairy image for a while and not actually used it. So on this particular day the challenge was simply to use the stamp.
The Craft
Creating backgrounds for images can be great fun and very messy. The background for ‘Twilight Rendezvous‘ was created on one of those messy afternoons when I had the alcohol inks out. You drip coloured inks onto Yupo card and then add blending solution and watch the inks run all over the place. I generally then use a hairdryer to move the ink a bit more and dry it. Alcohol lifting solution is then brayered carefully over the card and another piece of card is then placed on top so you get a print. Tremendous fun.
The background for ‘Twilight Rendezvous‘ was one that used yellows and oranges, so not my usual choices but it did make me think of sunsets so that is why it was chosen.
The stamping of the main characters was straight forward and I used my nocturne ink. The foliage and flora were built up using a variety of different coloured inks and layering. Twilight ink was used to deepen the edges. I used watercolour pencils to add details and colour to the wings of the fairy and details on the bridge. Finally no magical picture would be complete without a bit of sparkle.
