Inking … Inner Peace

‘Inner peace’ came from a calm day where I had been watching the birds and in particular the magpies visiting the garden.
Other’s may see something different in the picture but to me it speaks of calmness whilst being with nature.
The Process
I had created the background a few weeks earlier, whilst having a lovely, messy play with some new Dinkle powders, water and my gel press. Very messy, but very satisfying!
I like to do that periodically. Create 6 or 7 different backgrounds, leave them a few weeks and then come back to them. That way I am looking at them with fresh eyes and the background then ‘tells’ me what it needs.
The greens shouted at me that they needed to be meadow with a fairy.
Having decided upon a fairy in a meadow, I selected the lovely Mae Fairy from Lavinia Stamps stamp that I wanted and the magpie that I wanted and I set about stamping. I wanted this to be fairly simple, so the fairy and magpie were stamped with Tsukineko VersaFine Clair Nocture ink.
I then selected a series of other colours of ink and a selection of meadow flowers and grasses.
Once I was happy with the flowers and grasses, I started on the detail and painting.
I had decided that I wanted things to shimmer when finished so what better than to use my LuminArt Twinkling H2O water colour paints and a tiny brush.
Final details and embellishments were added with some glittery pen work.
That then just left the final bit of ink blending work to create the sun/moon effect.
