Rhododendron Stump Candle Holder

Description

This tea-light candle holder is made from a stump of a rhodedendron.  It comes with a glass tea-light holder and a single candle.

The bark has been stripped from the wood and all bark inclusions removed, smaller branches have been rounded to bring out the beautiful shape of the piece.

A very heavy shou sugi ban technique has been applied to the piece to make a feature out of the cracking that was present.  A vinegaroon treatment was then applied to the piece before the burning was sanded back to achieve a gorgeous, rich caramel colour.

Once silky smooth the piece was finished in a food-safe hard wax to create a piece that is one of the most tactile we’ve ever created.

This one-of-a-kind item would look great on a study shelf, on a bookcase or as the centre-piece of any table.
