The Inspiration

I am currently reading the fabulous ‘Throne of Glass‘ series by Sarah J. Maas. For anyone who doesn’t know the books then a quick summary is they involve magic, fae, assassins, dragons and much more. (No spoilers here)

So of course dragons flying about castles and causing havoc is going to pop into my head.

The Craft

I knew what I want to create when I sat down to do ‘Flight of the Wyrm‘. This was not a day of ‘humming and hawing’ as they say here, I knew from the start what was going where.

As fortune would have it an alcohol ink background, I had created a month previously, was sitting about and was just what I wanted for a dramatic back drop. The teal, pink and purple just said sky to me so using my circle mask I created a moon.

I found my hill masks and inked in some mountains. I didn’t want them to be too dark as I wanted them in the background. The fairytale style castle and dragons were next followed by the trees using various shades of green ink.

Gold and Silver Posca Pens we used to add the details and a touch of shimmer and magic.
