Jimi Hendrix

Description

This handmade portrait, of the one and only Jimi Hendrix, is hand crafted from FSC approved plywood and framed with reclaimed timber. It has a D-ring on the rear to allow wall mounting.

The artwork is manually cut into a single A4 sheet of 3mm plywood using a hand-held fretsaw and based upon a design created specifically for this portrait. This cut-out is then mounted onto a further sheet of stained plywood (in this case the colour ‘Indian Rosewood’ was used) to show off the detailed cutting. The stain used is spirit based.

The frame is tailor made for this individual piece, using reclaimed timber (a fence post found washed up on the loch shore).

Jimi Hendrix is finished using natural beeswax and his frame is finished with an hard-wearing antiquing wax.

The result is a unique portrait of the great guitar player in warm, natural browns, highlighting the wood grain of both the portrait and the reclaimed timber framing.
